Introduction

WeCre8te Afrika was founded in November 2023 as a creative incubator program by SoxThePoet.

Our vision is a future where the creative power of African youth drives a just, equitable, and sustainable society, with marginalized voices at the center of public discourse and leadership. Through strategic collaborations, we have since grown into a vibrant, youth-led creative hub. 

Our mission is to mobilize and empower a new generation of creatives by providing the training, mentorship, and platforms needed to create art that amplifies marginalized voices and builds collective action for social change. While we continue to champion spoken word and poetry, we now also foster cross-genre collaboration for a broader community of artists.

Our Platform

WORDS MATTER SHOW

The Words Matter Show is our flagship monthly platform that harnesses the power of spoken word poetry to break down barriers and foster understanding. Since 2024, we have hosted 23+ consecutive events themed around SDGs 3, 5, 10, 13, 16, and 17. By providing a stage for both established and emerging artists, we cultivate new voices and spark dialogue on critical issues. Our format also allows us to experiment with cross-genre collaborations with dancers, musicians and visual artists.

Trybee

Poet/Spoken Word Artist

Trybee is a wordsmith with a passion for addressing social issues through her writing. From gender equality to mental health, her words resonate with audiences across the globe. She is also a humanitarian, a volunteer, and an advocate for youth reproductive health and rights.

Sisa

Poet/Spoken Word Artist

Sisa is a multi-talented spoken word artist and model. At the tip of her tongue lies the power to influence her audience through an emotive appeal to the deepest parts of human nature. Her pen writes away her pain and experiences.

Starlight

Poet/Spoken Word Artist

Starlight is “the calm before the storm”. Her personality is as serene as a still lake at sunset but her words – not so much. She doubles as a wordsmith and an eco friendly fashionista. Her poetry is transformational and provides a holistic path to healing.

Letty

Poet/Spoken Word Artist

Letty is a poet out to prove to the next generation that with the right kind of mindset and self discipline it is possible to balance and succeed in both academics and whatever sets your heart on fire. Her poetry touches on issues of identity, peace building and social justice.
